Two robbers arrested in Delhi

Two alleged notorious robbers, who were involved in several criminal cases, have been arrested here, police said.

The accused were identified as Gulfaraz alias Atul (29), a resident of Nand Nagri and Gaurav (28), who lives in Harsh Vihar in the city, were apprehended by the Crime Branch.

Police said Atul has been previously involved in 27 heinous cases of robberies, snatching, among others.

An Information was recently received by the police about a gang of robbers or snatchers, active in east and north-east Delhi.

According to police, it was believed that this gang was behind the spate of recent incidents of violent armed robberies and snatching in the trans-Yamuna area.
 

"We on June 23 received a tip-off that two desperate snatchers or robbers namely Gulfaraz and Gaurav would come to meet one of their associates in Nand Nagri.

"A trap was laid at the expected place and accused Gulfaraz and Gaurav were apprehended and two stolen motorcycle were recovered from them," a senior police official said.

The official also said that with their arrest, 48 cases of robbery/snatching in Delhi have been worked out, adding that they have committed a number of robberies/snatchings alongwith their associates.

"They used stolen motorcycles or fake number plates to avoid detection. They would target victim in the early morning or evening," the official added.
