A court in Bihar's Jehanabad district today convicted two persons for life and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each after finding them guilty in the dowry death case two years ago.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ)-I O P Rai passed the order convicting the accused persons Sunil Yadav and his brother Shambhu Yadav to life imprisonment and imposed Rs 5,000 fine on each after finding them guilty in the dowry death case of Sunil Yadav's wife Shyampati Devi.
According to prosecution, the duo had killed Devi and threw the body in a well in Mahadev Bigaha village under Makdumpur police station area in September 2012 after her family failed to meet the demand for a motorbike.
The victim's father Devkeshwar Yadav, a native of Gangri Toli of Dhibri village under Bela police station area in neighbouring Gaya district, had lodged an FIR against his son in-law and his brother charging them with the murder of his daughter for dowry.
