Two sentenced to 10 years RI in murder of a businessman

The district and session court judge S Hukato Swu yesterday pronounced the judgement in the case related to murder of Prasenjit Dhar who was kidnapped at gun point on October 16, 2008 from his residence at Lhomithi colony, Dimapur for ransom, and his mutilated body was recovered from Bor-Lengri area on the outskirts of the town after four days.

The two accused who were awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment are Libemo Ezung alias Ango alias Kalia from Longsa village in Wokha district and Amony Tarao alias Amos alias Liz from Leisoching village in Chandel district.

The third convict identified as Sujit, a resident of Dimapur, was awarded three years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5000.

 

All the three accused were convicted under Section 364 of IPC for kidnapping and murder with Section 34 of IPC for common intention and 120 B of IPC for criminal conspiracy.

While trial of the case was on one accused identified as Subin Mondol alias Robin escaped from the jail in 2010.

Another accused John K Akhan Poumai, believed to be the mastermind of the kidnapping and murder, was also still absconding along with many others.
