Two sentenced to five years RI in counterfeit currency case

A local court here today convicted two persons in a counterfeit currency case and sentenced them to five years rigorous imprisonment.

Judge Palaniappan also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on them.

CB-CID had registered the case in August 2003 and arrested the two from Vellore district for possessing and circulating counterfeit currency and remanded them to judicial custody, a statement said.

CB-CID had filed the charge sheet against the accused at the an Additional Sessions Court in April 2004.
