A local court today sentenced two persons to life term for murdering a 14-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother over a year back.

District and Session Court Judge Ramesh Chandra Meena awarded life term to Forulal Bheel (20) and Mangilal Mehar (22), residents of Khatkad village, and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on each of them.

According to the prosecution, the duo, after failing in rape attempt, murdered Maina and her brother Laxman, residents of Gulkehdi village, with an axe while they were returning to home from school through forest on February 5, 2013.

The dead bodies of the two were recovered from the forest next morning. A case under section 302 of IPC was lodged against Forulal and Mangilal in Gendoli police station.

Public Prosecutor Anil Sharma sought death penalty for the two considering the brutal nature of murder, but in view of their age, the court sentenced them to life term.
