Three people drowned in two separate incidents over the weekend, after a 19-year-old college student drowned in Rushikonda beach and two youngsters drowned at RK Beach in the city today.
However, the two youngsters were rescued by community guards at RK Beach.
According to Inspector of Police of Palem police station, Tirupathi Rao, seven youth from Arilova area in the city went to Rushikonda beach.

While K Nageswara Rao (19) was swimming, he was caught in a strong current which took him deep into the sea, after which community guards at the beach tried to rescue him, but in vain.
In other incident, two youths of Kobbarithota area in the city drowned at RK Beach, while two others were rescued by alert community guards at the beach.
The police said that four youngsters namely Mahesh, Appala Raju, Chandra Mouli and one more person came to the beach for a swim and entered the sea.
While they were swimming, they were caught in the current. Community guards jumped into the water after hearing theit screams and saved Chandra Mouli and another person.
Later, the guards went into the water to rescue the other two, but managed to trace only Appala Raju, who was brought to the shore in a lifeless condition, while Mahesh went missing in the water.
The Two-Town police reached the spot and shifted the body to KG Hospital for post mortem and swung into action to fish out Mahesh's body, the police official said.
