Two shot dead by unidentified assailants; locals hold protest

Two persons were shot dead by unidentified motorbike-borne assailants in Bihar's Rohtas district today, a police officer said.

A trader Vinod Soni was chatting with an acquaintance Chandan Paswan on the road at Mauniya Bigha locality when unidentified assailants riding on a bike shot at them from close range, Dalmiya Nagar police station in-charge Ram Iqbal said.

While the 25 year-old Paswan died on the spot, Soni succumbed to injured during treatment in a hospital, he said.

The incident sparked off a protest by local people who blocked the road by burning tyres for two hours demanding arrest of the culprits and compensation to the kins of victims, Iqbal said.
 

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the police officer said, adding that preliminary probe revealed that the double murder was a fall out of gangwar as Paswan was said to be an accused in the murder case of one Sabit Yadav.
