A petrol pump owner and an engineer were shot dead in two separate incidents in the state capital, police said here today.
Yesterday, M V Trivedi (69), a petrol pump owner at Riverbank Colony in Wazirganj area, was shot at by motorcycle borne assailants, who also looted Rs 13 lakh cash from him.
The incident took place when he was going to deposit the money in the bank, police said.
In other incident, a junior engineer in water works department, Satya Narain Verma, was shot dead by some bike-borne youths in Indira Nagar locality.
A property dispute was stated to be the motive behind the killing, police said.
Meanwhile, petrol pumps in the city went on a strike against the killing of the petrol pump owner and demanded that the case be cracked soon.
