Priya Purushottam Malviya, a resident of Rajnagar locality, had come across an advertisement claiming cure to all difficulties through 'black magic' while she was travelling in a local train in Mumbai.

Priya then contacted Thakur Rajendra Singh and Pasa Baba in Haridwar and narrated her marital problems to them who in return asked her to deposit money in their bank accounts for performing some rituals.

According to police, the victim on April 20 deposited Rs 65,000 in instalments into the ICICI and SBI accounts of the accused.

However, with no relief forthcoming and being fed up with repeated demands to shell out more money, the victim lodged an FIR with Sadar police, which registered the case under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and under relevant sections of Drug and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisement Act 1954 against the duo.
