Two Sri Lankans held for smuggling gold biscuits

Two Sri Lankan nationals were arrested at airport here for allegedly smuggling 15 gold biscuits, valued at over Rs 46 lakh, a Customs officer said today.

Mohammed Taha Mohammed Reheem and Abdul Cadar Mohammed Fazlur Rahuman were arrested on the intelligence input as soon as they landed at the airport yesterday from Hyderabad, Deputy Commissioner of Customs (airport wing) N Naresh said in a statement.

He said that Rahuman, who was coming from Dubai had handed over the gold biscuits, each weighing 100 grams, to Raheem after the latter boarded the Air India flight in Hyderabad.

The officer said that Raheem had concealed the biscuits in his rectum and confessed that they were given to him by Rahuman.
 

Customs officials are investigating the matter.
