Two girl students sustained minor injuries while another fainted when police burst gas shells and resorted to baton charge to prevent the students from marching within the perimeter of the high security zone area here today, the police said.
The incident occurred at Kwakeithel area along the Tiddin Road in Imphal West district, half-a-km from the Governor's and Chief Minister's bungalows.
Police said the students were accompanied by locals and women activists during the rally for conversion of the three Inner Line Permit System-related Bills into Acts with the assent of the President.

The Bills were passed by the state Assembly in August last year.
Similar form of protests was also carried out by students from schools in Imphal East and Thoubal districts.
