The students, identified as Guddu Kuamr and Pancham Kumar, were riding bicycles on way to their college when a speeding truck crushed the duo under its wheels, the sources said, adding the duo died on the spot.
The road accident sparked off a strong protest by the local people who set on fire the truck before pelting stones on the cops who had reached there to pacify the protesters, they said.
As the situation appeared to get out of control, the police fired in the air to disperse the mob, the sources said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
