Two students of Ravenshaw University were today rusticated for two years and were barred from appearing four consecutive semester examinations for allegedly bombing the official chamber of the Vice-Chancellor inside the campus.

While no one was injured in the incident late on Sunday night, the chamber of the VC has received extensive damage as reports said three youths, including a former student, hurled at least five bombs near the administrative block, which houses the VC's chamber.

"As per the recommendation of the University Staff Council, we have suspended the studentships of the accused and have handed over the case to the police," Vice-Chancellor Prof B C Tripathy said.

The university authorities have lodged FIR against Sanjib Kumar Prusty, a former student and two current students - Aditya Alfa (Plus III third year Commerce) and Sudhansu Kumar (Plus III first year science), said Police Commissioner R P Sharma.
