Two school students were washed away while bathing in Shakti canal in Vikas Nagar area, near here, police said today.
Manish Rawat (16) and Sanjay Gaud (17), both class XI students of Gurunanak Mission Inter-college, and their school mate Mukul (14), a class VIII student, had yesterday gone to take bath in the canal, they said.
Thereafter, Sanjay came out of the canal but Manish and Mukul were washed away with a strong stream of water, they said.
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation but failed to save the teenagers, they said.
However, few hours later, their bodies were recovered at some distance from the incident spot, they added.
