Two teenage girls commit suicide after failing board exam

For 15-year-old Pratima Jena, in Bari block in the district, matriculation results brought dejection after she learnt her failure in the board examination.

She checked the results on the internet this morning and returned home. She allegedly tied a scarf around her neck and hanged herself from the ceiling of her house at Golkund village. The incident came to light when her parents searched her for lunch, the police said.

The other girl, Subhashree Sahu (15), under Binjharpur block in the district who failed in Matriculation examination too was not different. She allegedly consumed poison at her house in Padasahi here.

 

She was immediately taken to district head quarter hospital where she was declared brought dead, they said.

In another incident, Babita Samal (15) of Achutpur under Dharmasala block in the district allegedly consumed poison at her village in Bamphu after she learnt her failure in the examination.

But, she was immediately rushed to Community Health Centre at Dharmasala where she was battling with her life, doctors said.
