Two teenagers drown in Bihar river

Two teenagers met a watery grave while bathing in Kusha river in Purnia district of Bihar today.

The incident happened at Shiswa village under Sarsi police station in Banmankhi sub-division of the district. The youths were identified as Vikas Kumar Chaudhary (17) and Sunit Kumar Chaudhary (18).

Banmankhi Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) B K Paswan said, "Both had gone to the river 'ghat' to clean it for the approaching Chhath festival. They entered the river to take bath after the cleaning was over, but ventured towards the deeper part of the river. Vikas started drowning. Sunit went to save him but he too was drowned,"
 

The police said another boy Chhotu raised a cry to save them, but by the time villagers reached, both the teenagers had drowned. Their bodies were taken out with the help of fishing net later on, and sent for postmortem.
