Two teenagers were lynched by a mob on the suspicion of stealing battery from a tractor at Baikatpur village in Patna district, police said today.
According to police, the two boys have been identified as Chhotu Kumar, 17, son of Vishwanath Paswan, an Assistant Sub-Inspector with the Bihar Police and Golu Kumar, 16, son of Sagar Paswan.
So far, two persons, Anil Yadav and Muni Lal, have been arrested in connection with the incident which took place yesterday while raids were on to nab others involved in the incident.

"The two boys had come to Baikatpur to take part in a religious function. They were loitering around the village when some people caught them on the suspicion of them being battery thieves and assaulted them mercilessly with bamboo sticks and iron rods," said Khusrupur SHO VK Medhavi.
Other persons from the neighbourhood also joined the assaulters and kept on beating Chhotu and Golu. Both the boys tried to convince them of their innocence but the mob was unrelenting, Medhavi said.
"When the boys fell unconscious, they were loaded on an auto-rickshaw and dumped near a Tata godown along National Highway-30. Police discovered them and took them to hospital, where both of them were declared brought dead," he added.
An FIR has been lodged and investigations are on.
