Two touts arrested by ACB officials

Two touts have been arrested by the Anti Corruption Branch of Delhi government while accepting bribe in connection with the issuance of a caste certificate.

The two persons, identified as Chiranji Lal and Rajesh Kumar, were arrested yesterday from Seemapuri area following a complaint on the anti-corruption helpline number launched by former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.

The Complainant said that he had visited the office of Sub Divisiomal Magistrate, Seemapuri, in connection with the issuance of a caste certificate for his daughter.

"When the applicant later reached the office of Deputy Commissioner in Shahdara, he was approached by the touts. They induced him to pay the bribe amount so that they can get the caste certificate issued immediately.
 

"The complainant contacted us following which a trap was laid. Both the accused examined documents of the complainant, took his papers and accepted bribe Rs 2500 when the trap was laid. The bribe money was recovered from Rajesh and original documents of complainant were seized from accused Chiranji Lal," said Additional Commissioner of Police (ACB) V Renganathan.

A case has been registered in this regard. During the interrogation, the accused revealed that they remained active during morning hours till afternoon in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

They used to take bribe for getting the SC, OBC, Domicile and Income Certificates issued, said Renganathan.
