The Railway Police today arrested two persons after seizing 4.5 kg gold ornaments worth around Rs 1.35 crore from them at Secunderabad station.

The seizure was made last evening and the duo was placed under arrest today.

"While carrying out checking in the Bengaluru-bound Rajdhani Express at Secunderabad station, the police found three small boxes containing gold ornaments weighing 4,532 gm in the baggage of two passengers," a senior GRP official said.

The gold ornaments are worth around Rs 1.35 crore, he said.

During questioning, the two passengers identified themselves as Rajesh Khanna and Jagmohan Singh, both from Punjab, and said they were travelling from New Delhi to Bengaluru, the official said.

However, they did not have valid documents to support purchase of the gold ornaments and hence they were seized, the official said.

"After questioning, the two persons were arrested. It seems they were transporting the gold ornaments to jewellery shops in Karnataka. Further investigations are on," he said.
