Two US Naval Midshipmen visit INA, Ezhimala

In an effort at building bridges of friendship between the Indian and US Navies,Svetla Walsh and Tyler Beck of the United States Naval Academy, Maryland, paid a week long visit to the Indian Naval Academy at nearby Ezhimala from March 11.

The two midshipmen were given an insight into the ab-initio training of naval officers and the training infrastructure at INA, a defence press release said.

The visit also gave INA an opportunity to learn and understand the training processes of the United States Naval Academy.

The USNA Midshipmen were given ample opportunities to not only understand the functioning of INA, but to form bonds of friendship with INA cadets, the release said.

 

They also visited some places of historical and cultural interest in and around INA.

Naval cooperation between India and US epitomises the strong and resilient relationship between the two democracies, encompassing a wide span,which includes port calls,operational nteractions, training visits along with capacity building and capability augmentation initiatives, the release said.

The visit of the USNA Midshipmen was a mutually satisfying and enriching experience for the young officers of both Navies and reaffirmed the universal truth that Oceans unite all nations, it said.

They left the INA yesterday.
