Two woman killed in suspected dowry cases in UP

Two women were killed here allegedly by their in-laws for dowry, in separate incidents, police said today.

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her in-laws at Salarpur village under Jansath police station area last evening, police said.

According to the complaint lodged by Ayyub Hasan, his daughter Naghma Parveen, who was married to Kamil, was being harassed by her in-laws for dowry.

She was strangulated by them and her body hanged from the ceiling to show it as a case of suicide, he alleged.

Police have bookedsix people, including the victim's husband, who is absconding, Circle Officer SKS Pratap said.
 

In the other incident, 35-year-old Shamina was allegedly murdered by her in-laws after she failed to meet their demands for dowry at Belda village under Bhopa police station area last evening, police said.

A case has been registered against four persons, includingher husband Mehtab, his father Iliyas and his mother Midden, they said.

Mehtab and his mother have been arrested, while the other accused are absconding, police said.
