Two women, including a police head constable, working with the Khargone District Women's Counselling Centre were arrested today while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000, a police official said.

Lokayukta DSP B S Parihar said that police head constable Sanjuda Sheikh (37) and counseller Usha Saraf (46) were caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from P Singh (27).

He said that Singh's wife had lodged a complained at the counselling centre (a place where family discord issues come up for mediation initially) that her husband was committing atrocities on her.

Allegedly, the accused sought Rs 5,000 from Singh to hush-up his wife's complaint, the DSP said.

After Singh complained to the Lokayuka, a trap was laid. As per the plan, Singh approached Sanjuda who asked him to deliver the bribe money to Usha. As soon as Usha accepted the bribe and kept in a drawer, the Lokayukta police team arrested both the women, the DSP said.

Both the women have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is on, he said.
