Two women held for assaulting lady doctor in Hyderabad

Two women were today arrested on the charge of assaulting a lady doctor at a government hospital in the state capital, police said.

Y B Laxmi Devi and Y Sujitha had brought a family member for getting her new-born baby vaccinated at Modern Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj where they allegedly manhandled Dr Swetha Priyanka following an argument, they said.

"Swetha Priyanka, who was in an emergency ward, advised them to go to the nursery ward at Osmania General Hospital or Niloufer Hospital. In this regard, an argument broke out between the accused and Swetha. They became annoyed and in an aggressive manner started beating the doctor, due to which her spectacles broke and she also received injuries on her neck," a release from Hyderabad Police said.
 

Following a complaint, the two women were arrested, it added.

After the incident, medicos working at the hospital had gone on a flash protest yesterday.
