Two persons have been arrested in connection with separate cases of brutally killing their wives here, police said today.
According to Thane district rural police, the first incident took place in Nandkar village in Bhiwandi taluka here where accused Sandeep Dinkar Rawle, 32, allegedly set ablaze his wife Sunanda, 28 using kerosene after she refused bring money from her parents' house to fulfil his demand for buying a three-wheeler.
The woman died on the spot yesterday following which a police complaint was filed by the victim's sister last night.

In another incident, a 24-year-old powerloom worker in Bhiwandi was arrested on the charges of killing his wife after he suspected her of having an extra-marital affair.
The accused, Ashfaq Ahmed Ansari had married 22-year-old Afsana in 2013 in Bhalrampur in Uttar Pradesh after which they moved to Shanti Nagar.
A few months later, Ansari heard rumours that Afsana was having an affair with two men.
On April 14, he sought divorce from Afsana but she refused and had also threatened to lodge a dowry harassment case against him, police said.
On Sunday night, the two had a fight again and Ansari strangled her to death.
The accused confessed to the crime yesterday, and police are probing into the offence registered under section 302 of the IPC.
