Two youth drowned in river Bhavani in the district while bathing, police said Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Sunday when the youth hailing from Tirupur district had gone to take a dip in the river along with their friend.
On seeing the duo drowning, their friend had raised an alarm and some people in the vicinity jumped into the river to rescue them but they could not be found, they said.
On Tuesday, the body of one of the deceased was retrieved while a search is on for the other.
A case was registered and investigation is on.
