U-16 girls Indian national basketball team to train in China

The under-16 girls basketball team will undergo a training-cum-preparation camp in Dongguan, China from November 13 to 21 where they will be competing against various Chinese club teams.

The Indian eves are scheduled to participate in the upcoming third FIBA Asia Championship for women in Colombo, Sri Lanka from November 23 to 30, and are currently undergoing their second training camp at SAI, NSWC Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Their first training camp was held at SAI Aurangabad, Maharashtra from August 19 to September 14.

Coaches T D Biju and Abhay Chavan will be leading the Indian contingent to China under the guidance of Senior National Women's team head coach, Francisco Garcia.
 

"I think the Indian National U-16 girls basketball team has some talented players. We need to focus on over all development of these players. The goal is to train them harder to join the senior National team in the future. This exposure trip to China will help them to play matches under pressure, which will be key to their development. We expect them to give 100 per cent and try to get the best results in the Championship," said Garcia.
