Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today held a meeting with a delegation of Under-17 FIFA World Cup to be held in 2017 in India with Guwahati being one of the venues.
The meeting was held as a sequel of steps being taken to streamline available sporting infrastructure for the U-17 World Cup, Chief Minister's Office said.
Sonowal asked the departments concerned to prepare the main venue Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and four other practice venues before the FIFA delegation visits them on October 24.

The Chief Minister assured the FIFA team his government's help in successfully organising the event.
He also asked the officials to put in place a full proof security system, state-of-the-art health care facilities for the foreign players and showcase Guwahati as a tourist destination.
Sonowal also asked officials to upgrade and renovate players' dressing room, media centre, VIP lounge, FIFA Office, players tunnel, etc, the statement said.
