Uttarkhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today visited the Nelang Post in Uttarkashi and celebrated Republic day with the ITBP jawans there.
He hoisted the national flag on the occasion and spent time with the security personnel. He also distributed sweets among the jawans, a government release said.
Terming Nelang a strategically important area, the chief minister said the security personnel were serving the country under adverse circumstances at a height of 11,614 feet braving freezing temperatures.
He said they act as first responders on the scene in case of any disaster in the area.
