Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has turned down a request by public representatives not to shift a proposed NCC Academy from Devprayag to Pauri, terming the previous government's decision to set up the institute in Devprayag "unrealistic".
The previous Congress government's decision to establish the NCC Academy in Devprayag was unrealistic. It seems the decision was taken without taking stock of the required infrastructure at the site, Rawat told a delegation led by Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari.
The place where the academy is to come up now in Pauri has all the necessary facilities, an official release quoting Rawat said.
It has enough land, a playground and availability of drinking water. Budgetry provisions have also been made for the project, Rawat told the delegation that met him on Monday with a request not to shift the academy to Pauri.
The chief minister assured the delegation that Devprayag will soon be compensated for its loss as a big vocation-based institute is being opened there.
