BJP state president Ajay Bhatt today accused Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat of meting out step-motherly treatment to BJP MLAs' assembly constituencies by blocking development work.

"Fate of several infrastructure projects, which have been cleared, cannot be implemented because they are pending financial approvals," he alleged.

Bhatt said, "In my constituency, Ranikhet, construction of a bridge is pending for five years and a road in Bhikiyasing for 10 years."

"All constituencies with BJP MLAs are being meted out a step-motherly treatment," he alleged.

Bhatt asked the state to revive a 2011 order, issued during the BJP's tenure, for creating four new districts- Ranikhet, Didihat in Kumaon region and Kotdwar and Yamunotri in Garhwal region.

In a letter to Rawat last month, he said, "Upgrading them into districts was necessary for administrative convenience."

"BJP always believed in small administrative units. Hence, we supported formation of Uttarakhand. Later, we favoured creation of four new districts," Bhatt said.
