U'khand govt to form committee to clear SC-ST jobs backlog

Uttarakhand government is clearing backlog of vacancies reserved for SCs and STs in various departments in the state for which a committee will be formed, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said today.

The monitoring committee will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary.

Speaking at a seminar organised by the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Employees Federation, Rawat said that instructions have been given to clear on a priority basis backlog in vacancies.

On the issue of reservation in promotion for SC-ST employees, CM informed that the Irshad Commission is working on it and discrimination in the society should be eradicated.
 

Rawat also gave approval to State Women's Commission to have at least one woman from SC/ST community as its member.

While expressing gratitude towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedka for giving India its Constitution, CM announced to sanction Rs 1 crore if land is made available for construction of Ambedkar Bhawan in Dehradun.
