Uttarakhand government is all set to launch a crackdown on taxi and hotel operators who are charging exorbitantly from stranded pilgrims.

After receiving complaints from that taxi and hotel operators are charging exorbitantly, the state government is contemplating action against those taking advantage of the situation arising out of the ravage done by rains and floods.

Following the complaints, the administration may requisition all taxis in Uttarkashi and Gangnani for transportation of stranded people and pay the operators the normal fare, official sources said.

Similar action is expected on hotels charging very highly from the stranded people, they said.
