U'khand govt to launch new schemes for women: Rawat

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the state government will launch four new schemes for women which will be announced in the next Assembly session.

Rawat, while addressing a gathering on the occasion of International Women's Day here, said women in mountainous regions in Uttarakhand live in tough conditions.

"We will launch four more schemes dedicated to women which will be announced in the next Assembly session," Rawat said.

The state government has started providing free meal to women who are older than 60 years, he said, adding that pregnant women are being provided one-kg iodised salt besides iron and protein tablets.
 

"We are also mulling to provide physically handicapped pension for girls born with disabilities," Rawat said.
