Expressing disappointment over low and varying credit-deposit ratio of banks in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the state government is not getting the cooperation expected from banks in the development of the state.
Asking bankers to become partners with the government in the development of the state, he said they should improve the credit-deposit ratio and make it proportionate to the potential of each district.
"It is disappointing to note the disparity among districts in terms of credit-deposit ratio of banks. The farming sector is not getting its due.

Observing that banks have to play a very significant role in the development of the state, the chief minister asked them to accord priority to credit lending for projects in agriculture, horticulture, mini and micro industrial sectors.
Rawat said the credit-deposit ratio of banks is poor even in districts which have great potential.
"For instance, there is a lot of potential in Champavat district in farming and cottage industry sectors but the credit-deposit ratio of banks there is a meagre 29 per cent.
Even in Dehradun this ratio is a disappointing 43 per cent only "he said and asked leading banks to improve this ratio and make it proportionate to the potential of each district.
