Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul today constituted a high-powered committee to prepare a report on the forest fire in the state.
A decision in this regard was taken after intense deliberations in the advisory council.
The five member committee, chaired by Vibha Puri Das will prepare a detailed report about the causes and circumstances in which massive forest fires erupted this year. The committee will also make recommendations to prevent and tackle forest fires in the report.

The committee will have one representative each from Wildlife Institute of India and Forest Research Institute. Additional chief secretary (forests) will also be on the committee while Additional secretary (forests) has been nominated as its member secretary.
In all 1828 incidents of such fires have been reported so far this year in which forests in 4015.5 hectares were damaged. Seven people also lost their lives in fire-related incidents.
