Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi today said arrangements for devotees going on Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, which is held every 12 years, must be thoroughly reviewed before its start on August 18.

Qureshi, in a letter to Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar, said the meeting should be held at Raj Bhawan at least once a week ahead of the yatra, in the presence of Chief Minister Harish Rawat, to ensure that arrangements on the 19 halts identified along the route are satisfactory.

Also known as the Himalayan Kumbh, Raj Jat Yatra is held every 12 years through the picturesque and difficult hill districts of Uttarakhand.

The pilgrimage covers a distance of 280 kms.
