Expressing solidarity with slain Kunda DSP Zia-ul-Haq, Uttarakhand Provicial Police service Association has decided to offer a cheque to his family as a token of respect with each member of the body contributing at least one thousand from his salary towards it.

The decision was taken by the association here recently, SP city D S Kunwar said.

"There are about 87 members in the UPPA and each of them has been asked to contribute at least Rs 1000 towards the cause. However, there is no limit on maximum contribution. We hope to collect at least Rs one lakh in this manner," he said, adding, it was more a gesture of solidarity towards the brave policeman's family than a financial help.

Kunwar said the slain DSP had an association with Uttarakhand as he underwent training here as a police officer in 2006.
