Five model schools will be opened in each block of Uttarakhand to make quality education available to children in their neighbourhood, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said.
Making the announcement at a function to mark Bal Diwas, the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, Rawat said these model schools being set up in each of the blocks as an experiment will be equipped with all facilities and end the compulsion of guardians to move to big cities for the education of their wards.
The chief minister also underlined the need for guardians to provide a stress-free atmosphere to children at home so that they grow up in a natural and healthy manner.

Rawat also asked educationists to think up ways to lighten the load of books on children's shoulders.
Remembering Nehru's love for children on the occasion, Rawat said the former prime minister could understand the essential disposition and language of children better than anyone and that was the reason why he came to be affectionately called "Chacha Nehru.
