U19 Challenger Tourney:India Red defeat India Green by 87 runs

A five-wicket haul from Arshdeep Singh helped India Red defeat India Green by 87 runs in a One Day International match of the ongoing U-19 Challenger tournament here.

Electing to bat, India Red posted a challenging 273/8 on the board in their 50 overs, thanks to a quick-fire century by middle-order batsman Riyan Parag (100 off 101 balls).

Contributions by lower-middle order batsman Kamlesh Nagarkoti (33) and Rahul Chahar (33) helped the side go beyond the 250-run mark at the Cricket Club of India here.

A five-wicket haul from Arshdeep Singh (5-19) aided India Red to successfully defend the total and skittle out India Green for 186 in 42.1 overs.
 

Singh was supported well Rahul Chahar, Vivek Tiwari, Shiva Singh and Atharva Taide who picked up a wicket each.

For India Green, Priyam Garg's half century (50) and 46 runs by wicket-keeper Aryan Juyal were not enough to take them home. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

In the other match of the day, Sri Lankan Board President's XI defeated India Blue by six wickets.

Put to bat, India Blue were bundled out for 203 in 46.3 overs with Heshan Hettiarachchi (2-26) and Hareen Buddila (2-43) among the wicket takers.

Two down Om Bhosle top scored for India Blue at the Mumbai Cricket Association's Bandra Kurla Complex ground with 49 runs.

But the Sri Lankan team overhauled the target with 5.4 overs remaining. In their chase, 91 by Nuwanidu Fernando and unbeaten 65 by Nipun Dananjaya took the side home.

On December 2, India Blue and the Sri Lankan side will lock horns in the final, while India Red and India Green will play the 3rd position match on the same day.
