An indefinite strike called by the labour unions of public sector Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) here has been called off on the second day today after the management agreed to meet one of their demand on payment of annual bonus.
Of the four recognised labour unions in UCIL, Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union, Uranium Kamgaar Union (UKU) and Jadugora Labour Union called indefinite strike from yesterday demanding implementation of wage revision agreement signed in March, UKU General Secretary Rajaram Singh said.
"We have also called the strike in support of our demand for payment of annual bonus," he said.

As the implementation of wage revision agreement was pending for approval from the ministry concerned, Singh said the management agreed to pay the bonus by October 3.
He said the workers have returned to work from morning shift today and the production resumed in all the units at Turamdih, Narwapahar, Jadugora, Bagjata, Mahuldih, Bhatin.
UCIL officials also confirmed that production in the UCIL units was normal after miners decided to return to work from the morning shift after the management agreed to pay the annual bonus by October 3.
