The Urban Development ministry has decided to release over Rs 37 crore for sewage works in Kanpur, over Rs 5 crore for a sewage project in Lucknow in addition to approving a water treatment plant in Pune.
Officials said the ministry in a recent meeting has approved a proposal to release an amount of Rs 37.62 crore lakh under JnNURM for two separate projects for Kanpur city.
In the first project, the Government has approved a proposal to release an amount of Rs 25 crore under third instalment for the project "Kanpur-Sewerage works in District IV, Part-III in Kanpur City." The project which was approved by the ministry in 2009 is likely to be completed by March 2014.

The ministry has also approved the proposal to release an amount of Rs 5.36 crore under fourth instalment for the project Municipal Solid Waste Management in Lucknow.
The project, likely to be completed by the end of this year, will comprise facilities like collection of waste from individual households, its segregation into bio-degradable and non-biodegradable wastes, development, operation and maintenance of sanitary landfill facility among others.
The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of the ministry has approved a project for the construction of a water treatment plant and clear water pumping station and recycling plant adjacent to the existing Parvati Water Treatment Plant in Pune.
The Project was approved under Urban Infrastructure and Governance of JnNURM in a meeting of the CSMC held in New Delhi recently. The approved cost for the project is around Rs 171 crore while the Additional Central Assistance (ACA) admissible is over Rs 85 crore officials said.
