An Urban Development ministry committee has approved a project to replace the existing sewers in the walled city of Jaipur under the central government's flagship JNNURM scheme.
"The project was approved in principle during the meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) held in Delhi recently," a ministry statement said.
The project entails replacement of undersized existing sewers and also requires rehabilitation of the existing sewer size, the statement added.

The technologies to be employed for the project are environment friendly as they cause minimal dust pollution and disruption in the locality since not much digging is required, the ministry said.
The implementation period for the project is 24 months and it falls under the territorial limits of Urban Agglomeration.
Further, it has been proposed that from the year 2015, Rs 570 lakh will be generated as part of revenue on account of sewer cess against the existing revenue generation of Rs 114 lakh.
