Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis meet Maharashtra Governor

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray met Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today at the Raj Bhavan here today.

"This was a courtesy call by Thackeray. Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackerey was also present at the meeting," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.

Earlier today, state BJP president Devendra Fadanvis also met the Governor at Raj Bhavan. This was a courtesy visit.

The Governor also held his maiden interactive meeting with Vice Chancellors of all state universities at Raj Bhavan today.

"Universities in Maharashtra have an excellent reputation," the Governor said, addressing the meeting. It is the duty of all Vice Chancellors to maintain the same, he added.
 

The Prime Minister has called for laying focus on skill development and empowerment of youth, Rao said. He asked Vice Chancellors to work on improving the quality of education and to focus on skill development of youth.

Referring to his own graduation from Nanded, the Governor said that being a student of Maharashtra himself, it would be his endeavour to discharge his duty as Chancellor "more efficiently".

Vice Chancellors briefed the Governor about achievements and vision of their respective universities. Vice Chancellors of 18 state universities and Pro Vice Chancellors of five universities were present at the meeting.
