Ugar Sugar expects KPCB order to start production shortly

After receiving a closure notice from the Karnataka Pollution Control Board (KPCB), Ugar Sugar Works today said the company is trying to get an order to carry out production activities shortly.

In a BSE filing, the company said: "KPCB has revised the order on August 7, 2017 and has permitted to carry out all the activities except production."

Presently, there is no sugar and distillery production activities due to off season.

"We are trying to get the order for carrying out the production activities shortly," the company said.

KPCB had recently issued a closure direction for its Ugar unit for non-compliance of the provision of the Water Act, 1974, and the Air Act, 1981, in 2015.
