UGC ask varsities to provide details to students who want to

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants more foreign students to do PhDs in Yoga, following which UGC has asked varsities to provide details of students who wish to pursue the subject to the Ayush Ministry.

In a letter to Vice Chancellors of Central Universities, UGC secretary Jaspal S Sandhu said that during the review of preparations of the International Day of Yoga to be celebrated on June 21, Prime Minister Modi "desired that an-attempt may be made to promote PhD course on yoga for foreign students."

The senior UGC official said the Ministry of Ayush has said that it is willing to award fellowships to students selected or recommended by the Universities for pursuing PhD in this field.
 

"You are requested to provide the details of such foreign students who want to pursue PhD in this subject in your esteemed university directly to Ministry of Ayush for it to consider award of fellowship to such students," the letter added.
