The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended nearly 30 development schemes for universities and colleges till March 2019, it said in a notice.
This means the funding for UGC schemes such as the construction of women's hostel, equal opportunity cell (coaching schemes for SC/ST/OBC - non-creamy layer), would continue beyond September 30.
The UGC had notified that the continuance of many schemes from the 12th Five-Year Plan would be decided after September 30 following further inquiry.

The commission has also added National Eligibility Test (NET) coaching for students, according to the notice.
The commission has renamed the scheme of General Development Assistance - the objective of which is to improve infrastructure and basic facilities - as 'Block Grants to Universities/Colleges', and added various components to it, including 'Swachh Bharat-Swasth Bharat Abhiyan' (Clean India- Healty India campaign) for the universities.
Other components which are added to the renamed scheme include adjunct faculty in universities and colleges and travel grant and minor research projects for college teachers.
"...It is informed that UGC schemes in rationalised form will continue beyond September 30, 2017 and up to March 31, 2019," the notice, dated October 18, read.
