The University Grants Commission (UGC) is likely to consider the issues related to the revised Academic Performance Index (API) scores, over which several teachers' bodies have been agitating, in a meeting tomorrow.

Several teachers' bodies have been protesting on the issue of the new criteria for API scores claiming that it may increase their workload and also complained that it is not academic friendly.

"The Commission is meeting tomorrow and it is likely that the issues related to teachers will be discussed," a senior functionary said.

Earlier sources had told PTI that the UGC is likely to accommodate several of their demands including not to increase workload.

It is learnt that after internal review and external consultations have led the University Grants Commission to consider possible revisions including restoring the direct-teaching hours of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors to 16, 14 and 14 respectively.
