UIDAI covers 35% of UP population under Aaadhar; 25% in Bihar

In Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand, the Authority has generated a total of 1.55 crore Aadhaars

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has generated Aadhaar numbers for as many as 35% of the population in Uttar Pradesh and 25% in Bihar.

"UIDAI has crossed a significant milestone of generating seven crore Aadhaars in Uttar Pradesh (35% of population) and 2.5 crore Aadhaars in Bihar (25%) as on January 4, 2015," UIDAI said in a statement.

In Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand, the Authority has generated a total of 1.55 crore Aadhaars.

With this, the combined Aadhaar numbers in these four states amount to more than 11 crore out of a total population of about 33.9 crore in these states, said UIDAI.
 

About 20,000 enrolment centres work across the country with more than 8 lakh enrolments per day.

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand account for more than 5 lakh enrolments out of this.

"The total number of Aadhaars generated in the country stand at 73.4 crore presently," it added.
