British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Sajid Javid, will visit India from October 13 to 16 seeking to "develop a stronger, wider and deeper partnership with India".

Javid's trip to India is the latest in a series by senior British government ministers. He will visit Kolkata and New Delhi.

The visit aims to emphasise that Britain is keen to develop a stronger, wider, deeper partnership with India.

"Our cultural relations are strong from supporting each others' rich heritages to multiple collaborations in the creative industries," he said on the eve of his visit.

In Kolkata, the minister will host a round table on UK-India museum partnerships and a "Culture Is GREAT" reception.

He will also launch the first all girls football team as part of a programme with the Premier League.

Among several events to promote culture and tourism, Javid will also participate in a ceremony to commemorate the centenary of World War I and the million Indians who fought in the conflict.

In New Delhi, Javid will deliver a keynote speech at a UK-funded Cyber Governance Security conference.

He will meet Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Law, Communications and IT, and Sripad Yasso Naik, Minister for Culture and Tourism.

He will also visit Rajghat and Gandhi Smriti.

At the British Council he will engage with young Indian creative entrepreneurs and Indians who have studied in the UK.
