Ukd govt to invite bids for Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail survey

In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna yesterday, Director General of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which is the nodal agency for the project, said the estimated budget of the rail link was Rs 4,295.30 crore and a capable manpower with adequate expertise has been employed for it, an official release said.

A very high resolution stereo satellite imagery has been purchased from National Remote Sensing Centre in Hyderabad for the project, he said.

Bahuguna described the 125.09 kilometre rail link as a "dream project that would bring prosperity for the people living in hilly areas".

Assuring all possible support from the state government, the chief minister ordered formation of a committee under the Chief Secretary for coordination between the state and RVNL.

 

Spanned over Dehra Dun, Tehri, Pauri and Chamoli districts, the project will pass through 128 bridges and 81 tunnels, covering Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Karnprayag railway stations.
